Recipes from The Nutcracker Lady
This was my mother's favorite cookie recipe, and here is the original recipe
as it was printed many years ago on the box of Kellog's Corn Flakes
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 whole eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chopped dates
1/3 cup Maraschino cherries -- chopped
2 1/2 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes -- crushed
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
In a separate bowl, blend shortening and sugar till fluffy. Add eggs, milk, and
Add dry ingredients a little at a time and blend well. Then add pecans, dates
and cherries. Mix well.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls into 2 1/2 cups Kellogg's Corn Flakes, crushed.
Toss lightly to coat. Form into balls and place on greased baking sheet. Top
each with 1/4 cherry. Bake at 375º for 12-15 minutes.
