When you visit the Nutcracker Museum...

Here is the essential information needed to plan your visit, and also information about group tours.

LOCATION:
The museum is located at 735 Front Street in downtown Leavenworth on the corner of Front and 8th Street, right across the street from the tall blue and white maibaum pole.

OPEN TIMES:
The museum is open each day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m..  Hours may change for the holidays.  Please enter the museum no later than 4:30 to allow for proper viewing.

COST:
Fees are:  $5.00 for adults 17-64; $3.50 for seniors 65 and over; $2.00 for youth 6-16; no fee for children 5 and under or active military and their immediate family.

HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE:
The aisles in the museum will accommodate all strollers and wheelchairs, but there is no elevator for the second level.  However, some of all categories of nutcrackers are seen on both floors so that no group is missed if stairs are not accessible.

INTRODUCTORY VIDEO:
A 17-minute introductory video gives a short history of the museum and the nutcrackers, then a segment shows how a German nutcracker is made.

PHOTOGRAPHY:
Except for a few cases marked “no photos” you are welcome to take still pictures, however, we do not allow videos of any kind or live streaming inside the museum.

STAFF:
The staff is knowledgeable about all things ‘nutcracker’ as they have been well trained by the Nutcracker Lady, Arlene Wagner, known world-wide as an authority on nutcrackers.  They are friendly, helpful, and, except for cold winter days, greet you in German trachten. More Information

MEET OUR AMBASSADOR:
Karl, our ambassador, and the giant Mouse King are here and waiting for you to have your picture taken with them. More Information

GROUPS & TOURS:
Groups arriving at the museum will first watch a 17-minute introductory video that gives a short history of the various nutcrackers and take you into a German workshop to see a nutcracker being made.  After this, the group will tour the museum, and if scheduled, go on one of the Nutcracker Lady’s nutcracker hunts.  Payment Schedule for group reservations:

Student groups of 15 or more:  $2.00 each with 1 chaperone free

Student groups of 20 or more:  $2.00 each with 2 chaperones free

Adult Groups of 15 or more:  $3.50 each with 1 escort free

Adult groups of 25 or more:  $3.50 each with 1 escort & 1 driver free

Large groups of 25 or more will be divided into 2 groups 45 minutes apart. The tour leader may also issue individual prepaid vouchers allowing the group to arrive individually at their own time during the day which eliminates the escorted tour.

To make reservations for a group visit, please call the museum at 509-548-4573 and ask for either Michelle or Debbie who will discuss dates and times with you.  They will want to know the make-up of the group, whether they are students, seniors, etc., and any special needs. They will want to know if all of the group will arrive together or if they will come individually with prepaid vouchers.  We ask for payment in full at least 14 days prior to arrival. Until payment has been received, your date and time slot are considered tentative and available to other groups.

GROUP CANCELLATIONS: If your group needs to cancel, you may reschedule and transfer any advance payments made (up to one year from originally scheduled date) or you can cancel completely with a full refund. Any cancellations that fall within the 3-day period prior to your arrival or any no-show will result in forfeiture of your paid deposit.
