1/2 c. finely chopped dried apricots
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/4 tsp.
cinnamon pinch nutmeg
1/2 c. butter, softened
4 large firm ripe pears
1/2 c. pure maple syrup
Vanilla Yogurt
Combine apricots, pecans
and 1 Tbsp butter with fork. Set aside. Cut pears in half lengthwise and
remove core, leaving 1 1/2” hole. Place in 9” microwave-safe baking dish,
placing narrow ends in center to make a circle. (Cut a thin slice from
bottom to make a steady base.) Fill each pear with apricot mixture. Set
aside. Melt rest of butter and maple syrup. Stir to combine well and pour
over pears. Cover pears loosely with wax paper and microwave about 6 minutes
on high or until pears are tender. Baste pears with sauce halfway through
cooking time. Let stand 10 minutes before serving warm with Yogurt.

"To foster and encourage the interest of the general public of the importance of nuts in the diets of humans throughout history and in the evolution of the nutcracker. No other tool or collectible has shown such a wide diversity of material and design as the implements used to crack the hard shell of a nut".
