3rd Quarter Newsletter from The Nutcracker Lady

We, at the Nutcracker Museum, are very concerned that history is being lost as protesters tear down the statues of many people that all citizens should be remembering. Whether we feel these statues represent people that may be good or bad, they are all a part of our history. As we see that both Generals Lee and Grant are being wiped out of our history, we will continue to display both the Blue and the Grey!!

This is Christian Ulbricht’s version of Generals Lee and Grant. These were made in the early 1990’s in the workshops at Lauingen, Germany. PICTURED ABOVE

These two nutcrackers are from the Richard Glaesser workshops in the center of Seiffen, in the Erzgebirge. PICTURED ABOVE

This pair of nutcrackers representing the Blue and the Grey, were made in the Erzgebirge while it was under control of the Russians. PICTURED ABOVE

Lothar Junghaenel of Mudau, Germany carved these nutcrackers representing General Lee and General Grant in the year of 2009. PICTURED ABOVE

Hanno Junghaenel, son of Lothar, turns the parts for his nutcracker on the lathe instead of carving them. He makes many different military nutcrackers. PICTURED ABOVE

These humorous characterizations of the Blue and Grey were carved by the late Jack Frost, of Washington State. They are made in two parts, the nut is inserted and then the head is hit to break the nut. PICTURED ABOVE

Our Mission Statement

"To foster and encourage the interest of the general public of the importance of nuts in the diets of humans throughout history and in the evolution of the nutcracker. No other tool or collectible has shown such a wide diversity of material and design as the implements used to crack the hard shell of a nut".
