People enjoy coming to the quaint Bavarian Village of Leavenworth, Washington, for it is a four-season destination. The year begins its first Festival season with Ice Fest, then the Leavenworth Ale-Fest in April. May brings an abundance of flower baskets and Mai Fest with its Maibaum dance. In the summer visitors can escape the heat with a wild rafting ride on the river, go hiking, mountain climbing, biking, or enjoy a stroll through the town shopping and wine tasting. The Leavenworth Summer Theater opens in July, and seeing the sun set on the mountain peaks while watching a Broadway play is an experience that can't be beat.
September brings the Autumn Leaf Festival, and then Oktoberfest--the next best thing to being in Munich!!! Winter will bring snow-capped peaks as a backdrop, and three weekends of Christmas Lighting Festivals. The town will be beautifully decorated and shopkeepers will tempt you with specialty cheeses, chocolates and unique gifts. Sleigh rides and cross country skiing will be available in the area and two ski resorts can be reached within 45 minutes.
